She Spent $14K and Counting to Look Like Disney Princesses
Colorado native Sarah Ingle has taken the term “living the dream” to a whole new level, as she’s spent more than $14,000 to make herself look like various Disney princesses — for both fun and profit.
Now before you jump to any cosmetically enhanced conclusions, know that Ingle spends her money on wigs and materials for the costumes she creates herself. She told Distractify.com that she uses “many different materials from all over the world, including silk and organza.” She also said that “each dress can take up to six months to make.”
That’s a huge investment of time and money, when you consider the fact that she has 17 outfits and 16 wigs, plus corresponding makeup and accessories for nine of Disney’s favorite femmes, including Belle, Cinderella, Snow White, Ariel, Aurora, Rapunzel, Merida from “Brave,” and both Elsa and Anna from “Frozen.”
But her efforts pay off in a big way. Ingle is a 25-year-old marketing manager by day and a Disney princess in her off-hours, performing at children’s parties and events and charging from $119 to $249 per appearance. Those gigs include activities like a princess initiation, songs, story time, a royal dance, face painting, games with prizes, and more. But there’s also a charitable side to her obsession — Ingle visits the sick in hospitals and other health facilities, in addition to volunteering at various fundraising events. “I’ll never forget the day that I was asked to perform for a little girl who was celebrating the beginning of a break from her cancer treatments,” Ingle told HotSpot Media. “Seeing her face light up as she sang along with me was just incredible, and it was just the most amazing day.”
Ingle attributes her look-alike success not only to her care in costuming, but to her giant doe eyes as well. “I was born with really big eyes, and people were always telling me that I looked like a cartoon doll or Disney princess,” she told Distractify. “I suppose that my big eyes just help me to appear more cartoon-like, which is great for what I do.”
And as close as she’s come to fulfilling all her Disney fantasies, there’s still one on her bucket list that she has yet to check off. “I’d love to be Ariel [at Disneyland]” she says. “Maybe one day I can go for an audition and they’ll give me my dream job.”
Something tells us it wouldn’t be such a dream job once she gets wind of the long hours and the pay that’s more than a little less than what she’s making now. Still, we are not ones to burst her bubble. After all, if you believe in Disney magic:
