See How an Artist Turns Paper Into High Fashion

Sculptural dresses that resemble ornate, wearable origami are a welcome departure from the hoards of flowing gowns.

But what about dresses that are actually made from paper? Ukrainian artist, Asya Kozina is based out of Saint Petersburg, Russia, and takes paper art to haute couture status. In an astounding feat of creativity with paper, Kozina crafted a collection of dresses that are inspired by Mongolian costumes.

Kozina explained the choice of the theme for her collection in a profile on Pixable:

“The idea for this project came from my fascination by Mongolian wedding costumes. They themselves are very extravagant and futuristic. I created my own versions of these outfits with paper – emphasizing their shape and details. Why Mongolian? Because they have a rich selection of them to choose from their culture.”

Asya Kozina has several other series of paper art works that you can view on her Behance profile. The other offerings include life size paper chess horses, paper dolls, and historical costumes.
