Pinterest Predicts 2016′s Big Home Design Trends (Sorry Subway Tile and Rose Gold. You Had a Good Run)

The year 2016 will be cool and earthy, with an accessorized punch of color, if Pinterest has anything to say about it.

The company took a peek at the trends catching fire this year for its annual Pinterest 100 board. Picks range from technology to style, but several focus specifically on the home.

While warm metallics like copper and rose gold still rule the design scene, cooler hues are appearing more frequently on walls. But this year is far from colorless — the muted walls serve as a canvas to showcase attention-grabbing accessories that are one of a kind or tell a story. Pinners also crave texture and pattern.

Decluttered, neutral bases and an emphasis on craftsmanship also tie into a specific style making its way into homes as of late: Scandinavian-inspired design.

Needless to say, the maker movement is alive and well in 2016.
