Oops! Britney Spears Accused of Swiping Instagram Corn Photo

If Britney Spears were craving grilled Mexican corn, would you hold it against her? No, probably not. But after she was accused of stealing an image of the dish, fans are saying something isn’t right. So tell them, Britney, because they need to know…

Is it just her prerogative?

The pop star posted a seemingly innocent photo of grilled corn on Instagram, where thousands of us share images of food every hour.

Most would scroll, maybe like the post, or write “FOLLOW ME, BRITNEY!!!!” in the comments, and then just keep going to the next picture. However, one Twitter user wasn’t fooled by the perfectly lit, professionally styled dish, and decided to get up out of his seat (maybe) and do something.

“When you’re too lazy to cook so you Google image search ‘grilled Mexican corn,’” an irked Twitter user named Daniel Christopher wrote.

Sure enough, what U see (is what U get). The corntraversial (sorry, we couldn’t help it) image is the first choice in a Google image search, which links to a recipe by Food Network’s Tyler Florence. Fans have since filled the comments of the image with questions, while others defend Brit’s choice to share a picture of corn with her 7.5 million followers.

Perhaps Brit was just making a mental note to check out this recipe sometime, but as one of the top celebrities on all social platforms, she probably knows what Pinterest is for. Maybe she just ran out of things to share, and corn was the first thing that came to mind. We may never know.

It wouldn’t be the worst case of content theft (unless she’s secretly promoting her next album), but we’re sure whoever spent hours styling, shooting, and photoshopping that picture of corn is laughing or scratching his or her head.

As for Britney Spears, she didn’t even stop to say “Oops!” before continuing to post more non-corny content.
