Man Sees Face of Jesus at IKEA But Can’t Find Curtain Tie-Backs

Dave Simons, 33, was on a routine trip to IKEA in Braehead, Glasgow, when he encountered something that definitely wasn’t on his shopping list.

On his way to pick up a (very reasonably) priced hot dog, Simons made a pit stop in the men’s room, only to have a seemingly religious experience.

“I went in to the toilet and there it was on the main door when I put my hand out. I said ‘Oh my word, it’s Jesus,’” Simons recalled in an interview with The Daily Mail. 

“I spotted Jesus reminding me to do up my fly before I exited the toilet,” he joked. “I tried to subtly snap a photo because the last thing you want is to be heard taking a photo in a toilet.”

Even Simons recognized the comparison may have been a bit of a stretch, mentioning that some of his friends likened the image more to that of a tree person from Lord of the Rings, than the face of Jesus Christ.

It may not be as revelatory as da Vinci’s Last Supper, but Simon’s IKEA discovery holds its own against other internet-famous sightings, such as the frying pan, the Wal-Mart receipt, and of course the piece of toast.

Just last month, the faithful in Colombia said they saw the face of Jesus in a landslide there.

For Simons, his restroom stop had at least one unintended effect. After a memorable experience, Simons left the store without the IKEA product he came for!

“I actually went for tiebacks for curtains but they didn’t have any. So Jesus didn’t help us there.”

Though Simons may have left empty handed, there is no doubt his photo will live on online. 

And while Simons’s snarky tone may strike many as sacrilegious, a furniture store isn’t the most unlikely place to find Jesus. He was a carpenter, after all.
