Homemade Fruit Leather Roll-Ups Recipe
Looking for a delicious after school snack for your kids or simply something to munch on that will satisfy your sweet tooth without giving it a cavity? We’ve got just the thing! This homemade fruit leather recipe is so easy to make, and doesn’t have any yucky preservatives (acetylated monoglycerides?) like store-bought fruit roll-ups can.
Ingredients:
5 cups of washed, halved strawberries
3 tablespoons of sugar
Equipment:
Large cookie sheet
Silpat or parchment paper
Offset spatula
Decorative parchment paper
Butcher twine
Instructions:
1. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees and line the baking sheet with a silpat.
2. Combine the berries and sugar in a pot on the stove and simmer10 minutes until the sugar has dissolved and the mixture has thickened slightly.
3. Blend the berries in a food processor until completely smooth.
4. Spread the berry puree thinly on the silpat using an offset spatula.
5. Bake for 4-5 hours until completely dehydrated and no longer tacky to the touch.
6. Peel your leather off the silpat and lay it on a sheet of decorative parchment.
7. Cut long strips, roll them up and tie them with butcher twine. Delicious!
