Ikea’s latest product is free, easy to assemble (allen wrench included), and offers the quirky minimalist style that its fans love.

The superstore even promises (jokily) it will help you get along better with your significant other.

It’s not a bookshelf or futon couch; it’s a set of Ikea emoticons for your smartphone. Finally, you can easily text a graphic of Swedish meatballs or a little bookshelf to whomever you want.

“After 400,000 years of civilization., Ikea comes in with a smart solution to end misunderstandings around the house,” a spokesman says, not exaggerating at all. Perhaps it’s meant as a wink to the phenomenon of sad and angry Ikea shoppers.

The emoticon set includes the iconic big blue plastic shopping bag, of course, along with a bookshelf, stepstool, and several couches.

“Express yourself freely. All your hints, desires, demands and questions will be understood right away. “

The graphics have two stars out of five on iTunes so far, though. Users complain that you have to cut and paste that little bookshelf image into the message, rather than just typing normally. And you also have to give the keyboard “full access” to your phone, which sounds ominous.

Some Ikeaphiles are defending the emoticons, of course.

“Apple won’t allow insertion of images and copy/paste is the only method available,” says one reviewer, Andrew218371263512. (Note to this user: was the name Andrew218371263511 already taken?)

In any case, enjoy and let us know in the comments if you do actually find them useful.
