There are so many wonderful alternative ways to create a Christmas tree this time of the year. We love this sturdy idea that is surprisingly simple to do, if you have a saw. Most of us have seen a stray random palate just waiting to be up-cycled into a wonderful holiday keepsake. Giving new life to an old utilitarian object really fits the season, don’t you think?

Materials:

  • Pallet

  • Saw (electric is best, but hand saw works too)

  • Jingle bells

  • White (house) paint

Tools:

  • Hot Glue

  • Wood Saw (electric jig saw is best, but hand saw works too)

  • Hammer

  • 3” Paintbrush

Instructions:

1. Hammer in any stray nails for safety.

2. On the front slats of pallet, make diagonal cuts, to look like tree boughs.

3. Remove the left over pieces.

4. Paint the left over pieces on one side, let dry.

5. Paint the ‘boughs’ only still attached to palate (don’t paint the frame), let dry.

6. Insert the leftover pieces at a 45-degree angle or more to be the 3D boughs of the ‘tree’ – keeping the points angled towards the bottom.

7. Hot glue these pieces to the spine of the palate.

8. Hot glue a jingle bell to each of the tips of the tree ‘boughs’.
