Ex-Designer Leaves Big City to Build Coolest Tree House You've Ever Seen

Forest Huntington traded in his his busy life in the city to live in a tree house, and we couldn’t be more jealous.

The 27-year-old quit his job as a designer at Ralph Lauren in New York City in favor of a life on the road. He purchased a VW van and got behind the wheel.

Huntington documented his adventures through his photography, publishing several photography books, including “Home is Where You Park It,” which features an artistic collection of vans and campers he spotted on his inspiring journey.

And if you’re wondering where #vanlife came from, look no further than Huntington’s Instagram.

When the adventurer finally decided to settle in one place, he landed in the Columbia River Gorge of Washington state -- but an ordinary home life was not what he was looking for.

"I have always loved treehouses (...) so I thought it was time to build a big-boy one," Huntington told Outside Magazine. And that is when The Cinder Cone was born.

With a group of close friends, Huntington spent a year building the tree house of his (and our) dreams. Featuring two connected houses, two soaking tubs, a walkway in the sky and a skate bowl, The Cinder Cone is a dream home for any nature lover with an appreciation for comfortable living. There are lots of great tree houses out there, but Huntington's creation can hold its own with the best of them.

You’ll be happy to know that he documented the entire process. And through his Kickstarter campaign, he is publishing a book of photos and instructions, which means you too, can have the treehouse of your dreams.
