image

St. Patrick’s day has us all wanting to find that mythical pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, but chances are, unless you live in some magical fairy land, that’s just not going to happen. You and the kids will probably have to create your own Paddy’s Day craft!

Materials:

  • Paper plates

  • Green tissue paper

  • Wire

  • Golden chocolate eggs or chocolate coins

  • Multi colors of ribbon

  • Black matte spray paint

Tools:

  • Scissors

  • Hot glue

  • Hole punch

Instructions:

1. Cut two plates (together) across the width, about 1/3 of the way down from the top.  Flip one plate over so they make a space between them.

2. Spray them matte black and let them dry.

3. Hot glue the plates together, leaving the top open, to make the ‘pot’,

4. Stuff the pot with the green tissue paper to the top.

5. Hole-punch a hole on both corners of the pot.

6. Cut the ribbon into same lengths and thread them through the holes to make a rainbow handle.

7. Fill pot with golden chocolate eggs or coins.

According to Irish folklore, a pot of gold was placed at the end of the rainbow by the fairies and then staunchly guarded by the leprechauns. The trickery behind it all is, of course, that there is no end to a rainbow - it’s a full circle. Another reason why you should abandon the search and opt for a paper plate pot filled with delicious chocolates instead.
