Coolest New Textiles From One of Europe's Biggest Design Shows

The Heimtextil trade show took place during January in Germany and featured 2,759 exhibitors in this year’s textile extravaganza. Manufacturers fly into Frankfurt to be in attendance at the international trade fair that promises to unveil the new innovations revolutionizing the industry. A whopping 70,000 visitors came to check out this modern bazaar, hailing from over 61 countries. Textiles may sound antiquated or perhaps too niche for people who don’t deal with them on a regular basis; however, the trends shown at this year’s Heimtextil mirrored many of the other movements in other fields. For example, the Teijin Group focused much of their material on sustainable textile solutions. And with digital printing being such a runaway success, tech companies are getting in on the textile action. With new, cutting-edge hardware, digital patterns are no longer relegated to cheap, synthetic fabrics. You don’t have to be well versed in the intricacies of textiles to be able to appreciate the new patterns and prints displayed at Heimtextil. Here are some of the designs that were showcased.
