A Burst of Floral Fireworks

In a modern twist on impressionism, multi-disciplinary artist Sarah Illenberger made fireworks like you have never seem them before. For her “Flowerwork” series, the artist arranged flowers in such a way that made them appear to be fireworks in the sky. The vibrant colors of the flowers stand in stark contrast t o the black background, used to mimic the night sky.

Sarah Illenberger studied at both the Chelsea College of Art and Design and at Central Saint Martins. On her website, she explains her work as being at the “intersection of art, graphic design, and photography.”

The idea for the “Flowerwork” series dawned on Illenberger as she was strolling through a flower shop in Berlin. Meticulous study went into making sure the floral replications were as close to a real fire work in effect as possible. The final look has the feel of Monet’s lilies, where up close you see flowers, but further back the image comes together as a burst of fireworks.
