Wisconsin Guys' Giant Ice Henge Is Totally Giving Us Chills
5 Guys in Wisconsin Make a Giant Ice Henge
When it’s well below freezing outside and you’ve got a little time on your hands, do you hunker down with a good book or tackle an indoor repair project? Or do you go grab your saw and head for the nearest lake?

Drew McHenry, Kevin Lehner, Quinn Williams, Alec Niedringhaus and Patrick Shields did just that recently in Lake Mills, Wisconsin. The five men built their Rock Lake Icehenge over the course of two weekends. Each pillar weighed about 300 pounds, with 200-pound chunks sitting on top.

This was the second year they took on the project. Last winter, they weren’t able to finish it, due to below zero temperatures.
They wisely took the structure down once temperatures warmed slightly, but not before it became a local sensation.
"Thoroughly LOVED it. Many of my friends regret it was taken down before they could get a chance to see it," says one commenter on EliWedel.com, the photography site that posted these stunning images of the Icehenge.
"What are the chances another will be built next year?"
We’ll have to see how the guys feel next February, but let’s hope they tackle the project again. (Or maybe it’s time for an Ice Pyramid? Ice-ffel Tower, maybe? Easy for us to say, of course, since we’re not the ones out their with the ice saw.)

There’s something about subzero temperatures that brings out the crafty side of people.
Last week, Japanese army troops built a giant tribute to “Star Wars” for the Sapporo Snow Festival. In what looks like a Mount Rushmore for the Dark Side of the Force, Darth Vader is seen wielding his lightsaber as his loyal Stormtroopers stand nearby.
