Zlatan Ibrahimović’s time in Los Angeles has come to an end. After two seasons, Ibrahimović and the Galaxy have parted ways.

Ibrahimović teased the news on Twtter, with a tweet featuring Ibrahimović gazing over the city with his arms outstretched. Oddly, the image Ibrahimović chose features Banc of California Stadium, home to LAFC, and not Dignity Health Sports Park, which is where the Galaxy play.

I came, I saw, I conquered. Thank you @lagalaxy for making me feel alive again. To the Galaxy fans - you wanted Zlatan, I gave you Zlatan. You are welcome. The story continues...Now go back to watch baseball pic.twitter.com/kkL6B6dJBr

In typical Ibrahimović fashion, he thanks the Galaxy and tells their fans “you are welcome” for seeing him play. He then delivers a possible parting shot by telling Los Angeles fans to “go back to watch baseball.”

The Galaxy confirmed the news in a statement, and thanked Ibrahimović for his “work ethic and passion.” The team’s full statement read:

“We would like to thank Zlatan for his contributions to the LA Galaxy and Major League Soccer,” said LA Galaxy President Chris Klein. “Since his arrival in 2018, Zlatan has positively influenced the sport of soccer in Los Angeles. We are grateful for his work ethic and passion. We thank Zlatan for his professionalism and immeasurable impact on the Los Angeles community and the soccer community in North America as a whole.”

Ibrahimović scored 52 goals in 53 starts for the Galaxy. It’s not known where he’ll play next, although a reunion with AC Milan has been widely rumored, and MLS commissioner Don Garber claimed last week the Italian giants were recruiting him.
