Zion Williamson's final prep home game ends in steal and tomahawk jam to secure win

Zion Williamson, high school rim assailant, Duke commit and the No. 2 prospect in the class of 2018, has become synonymous with authoritative dunks. That’s one of the primary reasons behind ESPN’s decision to showcase his final home game against Greensboro Day prior to Duke and UNC’s national television showdown. Yet, Spartanburg Day is only 14-8 on the season, due in part to Williamson missing nearly two months of action rehabbing a foot injury.

Against Greensboro Day, Williamson who is averaging 36 points and 11 rebounds per contest this season, exhibited how much of a difference maker he is for Spartanburg, sending the crowd home in a fitting style. At the half, Williamson had 15 points including this earth-shaking putback dunk.

However, Greensboro Day was on the attack with 10 seconds remaining and Spartanburg led by only two. That’s when Williamson flashed his defensive instincts to put the kibosh on Greensboro Day’s attempt to take the lead or tie.

Despite brushing off a screen in the paint, Williamson recovered, pilfered a bounce pass at the top of the key, raced out in transition and converted his steal into an uncontested tomahawk jam on the other end. Williamson closed out his final high school home game with a quotidian 30 points. Fortunately, for the rest of his South Carolina high school competition, Williamson will be imposing will on ACC opponents at Duke next fall.
