Zappos Adaptive, in partnership with Billy Footwear and RoShamBo Eyewear, has released a collection of adaptive shoes and eyewear inspired by the PBS Kids’ show “Arthur.”
The items come in a wide range of colors, and feature characters Arthur and his sister D.W. in the designs. Shoes run from 5T in toddler sizes to 11 in kid sizes. The glasses come in two sizes, toddler and junior. The price of the sunglasses range from $20 to $25 and the shoes range from $45 to $55. There are eight different styles of shoes and six different color options for sunglasses.
The shoes in this collection have a wrap-around zipper that begins at the ankle and travels around the foot, allowing kids to take their shoes off more easily. The sunglasses have impact and shatter-resistant lenses, as well as bendable frames, which make them durable.
Dana Zumbo, the business development officer at Zappos, told The Mighty the collection has been in the making since 2017, shortly after Zappos’ adaptive line launched. A buyer from Zappos met with PBS Kids, which was “really open to hearing their ideas around more inclusive products.” From there, the relationship between Zappos and PBS continued through the launch of this collection.
Zumbo told the Mighty that this collection and others at Zappos Adaptive aim to create more fashionable clothing options for people and children with disabilities.
“I think it’s really important that we’re seeing other brands and organizations like PBS come together with Zappos to be able to really provide options that are not only functional but fun and cool design that really appeals to everyone, ” Zumbo told the Mighty.
The shoes and eyewear are both available exclusively on Zappos Adaptive.
