Zachary Levi shared a heartbreaking update regarding his father on Monday morning.

The actor, 42, revealed that his dad has been diagnosed with thyroid cancer in a series of tweets posted to his social media account.

"Sittin in my dad’s hospital room with him. He’s not doin so hot right now. The thyroid cancer just won’t quit, and is slowly overtaking his trachea," Levi said in response to a fan asking where he was. "Doctor’s may have a trick or two still up their sleeves to offer him a bit more time, but Papa D is not long for this world."

The same Twitter user replied, asking if there was anything he needed, to which the actor noted that mortality does not scare him, "I’m doin just fine, Alex, but thanks. Death does not sadden or frighten me. It’s actually an incredibly powerful part of life. One that we’ll all reach one day. Where we get to go back to God, the source, and be surrounded by the highest vibration of energy, love."

In a follow-up tweet, the Shazam! actor asked for thoughts and prayers for anyone who would be willing to, writing, "But for anyone out there that feels like rollin up some spiritual sleeves and prayin, send some up for my pops." He continued, "Pray that he be as comfy and at peace as a man could get. And that he head home with no fear or regrets, knowing how loved he is."

Many celebrities showed their support for the actor in response to his heartbreaking news, with Sherri Shepherd writing, "sending love and light."

Jane Lynch also chimed in, writing, "Love and comfort and peace to you and Dad."

Levi gave a "personal update" on his father's progress back in November through an Instagram Live that has been saved to the actor's page.

"Some heartfelt thanks from me, and the man himself @dpughnc #PapaD !
We thank you for all your continued love, light, and prayers. His big surgery is at 5pm PT today, just over 1 ½ hours from now! Any more prayers you can muster around then would be sooooooo appreciated! We want him coming outta this feelin better than ever. 🙏 And since it’s about a 5 hour surgery, I’ll give y’all an update on the other side. 🙌" he wrote alongside the IG Live video at the time, which can be viewed HERE.
