MANNYMUA: For me, my goals were, like, I want to be a beauty influencer or I want to have a brand and I want to have these certain things. Those are the goals I set for myself. I didn't plan for any of it to happen. I didn't plan to be like MannyMUA. That was not a thing.

And then it happened, and it's like, OK, cool. This is happening to me. I want to roll with the punches. I want to capitalize and do something good. So that's kind of what you know what. I didn't a lot but planned some of it.

My normal now is not my normal six years ago. It's a lot of responsibility. It's a lot of work. For me for a long time on social media, I was living my whole life for social media. And I wasn't living a life outside of it. And I feel like now within the last year has been really important for me to learn that what I do for social media is my job. And I am so grateful for it, and I love it. But it doesn't mean that I'm not allowed to have a real normal life as well.

So I'm making this video today because I want to do it quick how-to how I do my foundation. I get a lot of questions on Instagram of what I use and how I do it and things like that. So I'm just going to make a video of how I do my foundation routine, cool? Cool, let's get into it, yeah.

When I started YouTube those years ago, I felt like people weren't being their authentic self in the beauty space specifically. And I understand that you want to just show a tutorial and call it a day and be off of it. But I feel like, when I started, I wanted to be able to treat YouTube as almost like my diary or my journal. And I would just be who I am.

I started right away like what's up, bitch, what's up. I was being how I am in real life online. So I think that was just a really important part for me. And I feel like that's what set me apart. Bringing your personality, bringing forth who you are as a human, I feel like people can see that so well.

And I think people can see through the thickness and just like, I'm a robot, hi. I think people are over that. I think that people want to see you being your real, authentic self. They want to see you laugh. They want to see you cry. They want to see you go through things. And they want to see you rise up from them.

And I think that that's really, really important. And I feel like that's how my journey has been, and I've been my most authentic self the whole way through.

- I like he's really authentic. I feel like he's been the same since he started. His videos are pretty much him being himself.

- He's just so unapologetically himself, and his attitude and his just personality really shines through. It's kind of quirky and really creative and fun. So that's why I like him.

Hey guys, we're here at the BeautyCon L.A. We're at the pink carpet. I just got here, guys. It is literally insane. Hi, guys. How are you? Hi. It is so busy. It's so intense. So I'm actually really, really excited. We're going to meet and greet right now. So it's going to be a crazy day.

[SHOUTING]

Hi, you guys. Hi, you guys. Hi, you guys. Hi! You're so cute.

And I feel like, with meet and greets, I feel like it's my duty to give everyone the best experience that they can possibly have because I feel like, if they're supporting me, they're watching my videos, they're liking my stuff, things like that, it's like the least I can do is give them my full self, my full attention in that moment, in those couple seconds.

I want to be able to be present and be there for my audience, my followers, who have been there with me through thick and thin for the last several years. It's like, if they can give me all this energy, then I should be able to give it back.

- I meet Manny back in 2016 in San Diego at his meet up in San Diego [INAUDIBLE]. He basically helped us all, the boys in beauty, helps us come out with our makeup on. I mean, if you see, there's a lot of boys in makeup. So he basically helped me basically come out.

- It's just like something about him. He just makes me feel so happy. It was so emotional. I watch him all day. So I see on TV all the time, and I see him on my phone. Yeah, I watch everything about it him. So, yeah.

For me, with longevity, it was really, really important to, one, find a life of my own and be able to actually hone in and figure out what I want with my own life as Manny and not just MannyMUA.

It's honestly so overwhelmingly insane because you don't think of yourself as someone like who can be this inspiring person who helps people. Like, I literally did YouTube because it was a passion of mine. I wanted to do, and I wanted to teach how to do makeup. And by doing so in an authentic way, it resonates with other people. And it really does make a difference in other people's lives.

It makes me feel really proud that what I've put out to the world has helped someone because, at the end of the day, that's all I ever wanted, was to help other people and to live my true self.
