Have you ever wondered how Pete Davidson became the man he is today? Well, if King of Staten Island didn’t provide enough backstory, his new show Bupkis will surely fill in the gaps. Out May 4 on Peacock, the new comedy series is a fictionalized retelling of Davidson’s life.

Once again the former Saturday Night Live! performer is starring as himself—but in a twist absolutely no one saw coming, Joe Pesci has also joined the cast. Like seemingly every high-profile woman in Hollywood, the Goodfellas actor was charmed by the comedian’s prowess. Pesci plays Davidson's grandfather in the series, alongside Edie Flaco, who plays Davidson's mother. Additional guest stars include Charlie Day, Brad Garret, Simon Rex, Ray Romano, Kenan Thompson, and Davidson's new girlfriend, Chase Sui Wonders.

Pesci, of course, is best known for his Oscar-award nominated roles in Martin Scorsese's The Irishman, Raging Bull, and Goodfellas, where he won the Academy Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role. But playing hardcore characters isn't all that defines Pesci's career. He's also known for his comedic roles in My Cousin Vinny and Home Alone. Bupkis will only be the second TV show the veteran actor has taken on in his career–the first being the 1985 comedy-drama Half Nelson.

It might be too early to tell, but Bupkis must be a killer story if Pesci was willing to sign on. The plot for the show is largely under wraps, but People reports that Bupkis combines “grounded storytelling with absurd elements from the worldview for which Davidson is well known.” Davidson is a comedian, of course, so we can count on plenty of laughable moments—but the first images from Bupkis tease a more complex story. In one shot, we see Pesci gazing thoughtfully into the distance, and in another, Davidson grimaces while sitting on a couch. Other snapshots include Keenan Thompson playing a gobsmacked referee, and Brad Garrett looking all sorts of stressed out. You can view the photos in the Instagram carousel below.

In addition to his career as an actor and comedian, Davidson is largely known for dating some of the most famous women on the planet. He was briefly engaged to Ariana Grande, and somewhat recently exited a very public relationship with Kim Kardashian. He has also been linked to Kate Beckinsale, Margaret Qualley, and others. If anything, Pesci—and the rest of the star-studded cast—joining Bupkis proves exactly one thing: the charm of Pete Davidson knows no bounds.
