So, here's the thing... I love, love, love a good pair of platforms. But no matter how thick the sole and chunky the heel, like any pair of sky high shoes, even my very favorites start to hurt after about 5 hours of wear. The key, I've heard, is to not wear shoes that are that high, but I don't generally want to do that. But my resistance to a more modest heel with a platform didn't really stand a chance thanks to Margaux. The brand, which makes some of my favorite flats and boots around, debuted a festive edition of their platform sandal, the holiday platform, and let me tell you... these delightfully feminine black velvet party shoes hold up to the brand's reputation.

Let's talk specs: they have a 3-inch block heel and one inch platform, as well as 5 mm of foam padding in the footbed. Translation: they are so comfortable, you could easily wear them all day. So comfortable, in fact, that you could walk to multiple destinations in them; these are not strictly cab-to-curb shoes.

Plus, they are versatile—don't let the fact that they are open toed dissuade you. The rich black velvet paired with the crystal make them the perfect sparkly (and sumptuously textured) accompaniment to party dresses, velvet jackets, and festive attire galore. And if sandals really are a dissuading factor, the winter styling hack is to wear them with tights. Sheer or opaque— it looks glam either way. I may even experiment with a pair of red tights as we get closer and closer to holiday party season. Either way, these will be my dancing shoes whether I'm sipping on eggnog or twirling on the dance floor.
