Maybe they’re so popular that they sell out before they can be reduced in price; maybe they’re from a brand that refuses to countenance the concept of discounts. As far as status bags go, Céline is still on top. The latest style, the Trotteur, technically came out in 2014 but the current update with the gold clasp is the natural heir to the line’s other status bag — the Box. Ellery may not be as well-known as the other designers on this list but the brand has a loyal following, especially for its signature bell-shaped silhouettes like this top.

Season after season, Isabel Marant creates at least one shoe that inspires a frenzy. This fall it’s this python-printed boot that’s already nearly sold out on Net-a-Porter. Moda Operandi has plenty of stock, but you’d better hurry.
