Sam Golbach and Colby Brock — the creators of a Youtube channel with 3.6 million subscribers — have been exploring abandoned and supposedly haunted places for years. But the social media stars say their visit to the Queen Mary hotel is what turned them from skeptics to true believers in the paranormal.
“The Queen Mary was really the defining point for both of us where we actually captured something on camera,” Brock tells Yahoo Entertainment.
The former ocean liner was used as a warship during World War II and has since been converted into a hotel and permanently docked in Long Beach, Calif. The ship has long been known for its rumored paranormal activity, particularly in the notoriously haunted Stateroom B340.
Goldbach and Brock stayed in B340, which has been featured on SYFY Channel’s Ghost Hunters, as well as named one of the top ten “most haunted places on earth” by Time. The two Youtubers found it filled with strange noises and things they say they cannot explain. They’re even sure they conversed with a spirit, which they say answered questions via knocks and bangs and even shook the room.
“We ended up talking to something,” says Brock. “Whether you want to call it a spirit or something demonic or who knows.”
Since then, the social media ghost hunters have been exploring spooky sites around the world, and they have a new series that recently premiered on Snapchat called Stranded which has the duo exploring a Pennsylvania town that was the site of a mine fire. Stranded premiered on Snapchat’s Discover page on October 26 and is airing new episodes through November 2.
