To no one’s surprise, this fall’s New York Fashion Week: The Shows will be vastly different than in previous years due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, which is forcing designers to present their collections either entirely virtually or else in person but with strict health measures in place. And since everyone’s homes have taken on greater importance this year, NYFW has announced that they are teaming up with Lowe’s to curate spaces that will appear as fashion-show backdrops. Designers Jason Wu, Rebecca Minkoff, and Christian Siriano are working with the home-improvement giant to choose patio furniture, lighting, and flooring and building materials; their selected products will be revealed at midnight on September 8 and will serve as the set for each designer’s respective outdoor runway show.

“My home has always been a great source of inspiration for me, especially now that it’s not just a place I live, but where I’ve worked to bring my spring 2021 collection to life,” Wu says. “I have always believed that beautifully considered design should be accessible, and I’m excited to debut a curated collection with Lowe’s that offers a glimpse into what home means to me.”

Lowe’s will be live-streaming these spring/summer 2021 runway shows and will be showcasing the runway sets later this month on its Twitter page, where users will also be able to shop the looks and purchase products.

After Fashion Week ends, Lowe’s intends to work with each of the three designers to make high-style products affordable to people and communities that have been most adversely impacted by the pandemic.

“The intersection between home and style has never been more prevalent than it has this year,” said Marisa Thalberg, Lowe’s chief brand and marketing officer, in a release. “Our homes can be our greatest form of self-expression, in fact. We hope that seeing how these designers express themselves and bring their ultimate runway visions to life [...] will be inspiring to people everywhere to feel they can do the same, and more easily and affordably than they might have ever imagined.”
