New York Fashion Week is in full swing, and as we continue to take notes on what we'll be wearing once spring/summer 2020 arrives (rhinestones and one-legged pants are in), one of our fave snacks made its return to the runway. That's right, Cheetos is still inspiring some seriously fashionable fits.
Following its inclusion in Chromat's NYFW 2018 line, Cheetos returned to the Big Apple for NYFW 2019, and this time, the cheesy snack food held its own runway show. As pointed out by Dazed, the brand explained its decision to open the Cheetos' Haus of Flamin' Haute Couture, saying it was directly "inspired by consumers' own interpretations of the Cheetos look."
The Flamin' Haute line paid homage to the various iterations of Cheetos, and included an orange jumpsuit by Nava Rose, a red tulle dress with matching thigh-high boots from J. Bolin, and a finale outfit from costume designer Ami Goodheart. As The Hollywood Reporter noted, Goodheart's creation was a tribute to all things cheesy, and included a skirt made of tiny Cheetos and a headpiece featuring leftover snack bags.
Naturally, the inspiration also extended to the evening's choice of makeup, and models were spotted with bright orange hair, eye makeup that featured tiny flames, and hair accessories that Chester Cheetah himself would proudly wear. Although the line of couture won't be available for purchase, there is good news for fans that want to showcase their love of Cheetos — Forever 21 recently unveiled an entire collection devoted to the brand. And after taking over the runway, maybe we'll see Cheetos enter the skincare or makeup game next.
