If you're anything like me, you're generally not super excited about having to poop in a public bathroom. Some people hover over the toilet, which seems like a decent solution.
Anyway, New York City is opening a super fancy public bathroom near Bryant Park, in the Beaux Arts building behind the New York Public Library. The AP reports that the bathroom design team drew inspiration from luxury hotels like the Waldorf Astoria for the posh public poop station.
The bathroom cost nearly $300,000 and will include classical music, imported tiles, and fresh flowers.
"A few out-of-town companies provided donations not included in the facility's $280,000 cost," the AP writes. "The Japanese luxury brand Toto contributed self-flushing, energy-saving toilets and hands-free faucets and wash basins. Brill Hygienic Products Inc., of Delray Beach, Florida, supplied sanitary, electronic seat covers that rotate with each use."
Dan Biederman, executive director of the Bryant Park Corp, was charmingly blithe in his description of the park's bathroom design process.
"We strive for perfection and only settle for excellence," Biederman told the AP.
Settle down, Dan. It's a bathroom. But, on the other hand, it's a pretty dope bathroom. I would definitely say that this would be in the top 10 of bathrooms I've ever heard of or seen.
The posh potty will be open and cleaned regularly from 7 a.m. until midnight during the summer months. You'll have to get in before 10 p.m. as the weather turns cold. No tips are allowed.
Like what you see? How about some more R29 goodness, right here?
