'Yellowstone' S4, E6: Can We Get a New Writer For Beth?

You could argue that this week's episode of Yellowstone is a (very) glorified episode of House Hunters. You could also say it's an episodic interpretation of Fight Club. That's the kind of chaos that we're working with in Episode Six. Kayce and Monica are trying to find a house on a piece of land far enough away that they don't have to worry about killing people for their safety or people coming to kill them (the American Dream, really). Beth is still hellbent on a mission to ruin lives for sport. Lloyd and Walker's bunkhouse saga reaches new heights, and John? Well, John Dutton is getting laid, y'all.

In terms of episodes that move the season forward, "I Want to Be Him" doesn't do a lot other than give Beth some more naughty words to spew at people, but hey, we're still watching. Let's break down this odd installment of Yellowstone.

Who's Writing for Beth?

Well, what can you say other than the truth: Beth tried to stab Piper Perabo (her character has a name but...it's Piper Perabo to us, folks) because she thought she was an intruder and then she called her a sex worker. Then she insulted her boobs.

To back up: After getting arrested and bailed out for protesting, Summer (ok we'll use her character's name) joined John at home for a bit of post-resistance coitus. The next morning Beth found her in the kitchen and it was all explosions from there. Beth stayed for breakfast, but only to slam Summer for being one of them wheat grass drinking liberals who won't eat gluten. Eventually, Beth in departure, says, "I hope you die of ass cancer," and truthfully—who is writing for Beth this season and when will you stop this?

Jamie, Get Your Gun

Jamie, in a twist, confronts his biological father with a gun after finding out about Garrett's indiscretions. Jamie explains that he's going to make Garrett pay for "trying to kill his family," and that's when Garrett makes it clear that those people aren't your family. He tells Jamie that it isn't over. He's going to keep trying to kill the Duttons until "the bitter end," and Jamie falls into Garrett's arms crying.

As if Jamie's day couldn't get any worse, he is forced to take a meeting with the head of development at Market Equities. You may know her better by her given name: Beth Dutton.

Only Murders in the Bunkhouse

This Lloyd and Walker situation has clearly gotten out of hand (this is a pun, but you don't know it yet). After another day of big time frustrations, Lloyd loses his shit (again) in the bunkhouse and smashes a guitar. When Walker stands up and tells him that he's met bullies like him in prison before, Lloyd pulls a switchblade and stabs him in the chest. Mia packs up and leaves because, understandably, who wants to hang around when people are getting stabbed in the chest?

Some of the wranglers take Lloyd to Rip while the vet comes in to remove the knife. That leave John and Rip in the difficult position of what to do with Lloyd. John explains he'll get one last chance, and if he blows it... well, that's the unspeakable. It all ends with Lloyd and Walker facing off in a fight to end all fights. And when Lloyd wins, Rip enters the arena to destroy Lloyd and break his hand. And that's the cowboy way!
