The Yellowstone universe is expanding—again!

Hot on the (cowboy boot) heels of an exciting casting announcement about the upcoming Yellowstone prequel 1932 (make way for legendary actors Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford!), fans of the franchise have been blessed with even more good news. The other Yellowstone prequel, 1883, is getting a spinoff! (At this point, it's safe to say that the series' co-creator, Taylor Sheridan, likes to stay busy.)

Here's everything we know about the latest installment, titled 1883: The Bass Reeves Story.

What will 1883: The Bass Reeves Story be about?

The show will center around Bass Reeves, a real-life legendary lawman of the Wild West. The cowboy was the first Black U.S. Marshal west of the Mississippi and is known for making over 3,000 arrests without ever being injured. Reeves is also believed to be the inspiration behind the Lone Ranger. (How cool is that?!) The rest of the storyline is not yet known, but you can count on us to add updates as they're released!

Who's in the cast?

Right now, the only confirmed cast member is British actor David Oyelowo, who will star as Reeves. Oyelowo is known for his roles in the acclaimed movies Selma and The Butler. The actor has been having some fun posting about his new role on Instagram, getting fans even more excited for the new spinoff!

Where will filming take place?

The show's filming location is not yet confirmed. However, an Instagram post made by Yellowstone star Denim Richards shows numerous actors (including Oyelowo) at Sheridan's Texas Ranch. The location was used for certain scenes in Yellowstone and 1883, so it seems likely that it will also be featured in 1883: The Bass Reeves Story. (Side note: We are not okay after this photo.)

Is there a release date?

It's unclear when the show will begin filming, let alone be released. But, not to worry. We know that Yellowstone Season 5 has already started filming and will be released on November 13! Plus, 1932 is set to debut sometime in December.

With all of this news, we are feeling lots of things. But to sum it up: We. Are. Ready. 🙌
