  • Wynonna Judd shared an emotional message about grief in the wake of her mother Naomi Judd’s death.

  • Naomi died by suicide on April 30.

  • “This cannot be how The Judds story ends.💔” she wrote.

Since the tragic death of Naomi Judd, who died by suicide on April 30, the country legend’s daughters Wynonna and Ashley Judd have been open about the difficulty of the grieving process. And in a recent Instagram post, Wynonna provided followers with another emotional update.

Under a photo of her singing at her mother’s memorial service, the “Grandpa” singer wrote that the pain of the loss is “so great,” and that it feels like she’s “not ever going to be able to fully accept and surrender to the truth that she left the way she did, adding: “This cannot be how The Judds story ends.💔”

The 58-year-old admitted that she struggled to describe how she’s feeling. “There is so much happening in the world right now. So before I sat down to write this, I thought, ‘No…I just don’t know what to say.’ Then, I heard the words from my life coach asking me, ‘What do you know?’ And I began to cry,” she wrote.

Naomi, who was 76 when she died, was often vulnerable about her mental health struggles, which is why Wynonna is making it her personal duty to “break the cycle of addiction & family dysfunction” for her first grandchild, who was born a little over two weeks before Naomi’s death.

“I must continue to show up for myself {first} and do the personal healing work,” she continued. “I know that it is a simple steps program, and those steps are not easy to take at times. Therefore, I’ve made a commitment to keep doing the ‘next right thing,’ and schedule weekly appointments so that I continue with the ongoing work, even when I have good days.”

She added that she feels “so helpless—right now especially,” but “as corny as it sounds, ‘Love Can Build A Bridge.’” The classic track, sang by The Judds, has offered hope for generations, and it’s showing up for Wynonna now. “I find myself humming the song that Mom wrote for the fans, to myself here on the farm at night,” she wrote.

In fact, music and performing continue to be the one constant throughout her grief rollercoaster, which is why she’s holding them close. “I’m not able to do this grieving thing all by myself, and that it’s okay to reach out for help,” she concluded the post. “I will continue to fight for my faith, for my SELF, for my family, and I WILL continue to show up & sing.”

In the comments section, fans and friends flooded the singer with love and support. “The Judds story will never end because it will live on not just in you and your sweet family, but in the music. Music is forever. We love you Wy. ❤️” one person commented. “This is raw! This is real! This is powerful!! Thank you for sharing and checking in! Continued prayers for peace, strength, and healing,” another added. “This 🙌 thank you for showing up and being vulnerable,” someone else wrote.

Naomi died hours before she was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. The Judd sisters shared the news on Instagram. “Today, we sisters experienced a tragedy,” the statement read. “We lost our beautiful mother to the disease of mental illness. We are shattered. We are navigating profound grief and know that as we loved her, she was loved by her public. We are in unknown territory.”

Our hearts go out to the Judd family as they continue to grieve.
