WTF Just Happened to Missandei on Game of Thrones?!
WARNING: Spoilers for Game of Thrones Season 8, Episode 4 ahead.
Just because the Battle of Winterfell was over, that doesn't mean everyone's safe, especially when Cersei Lannister is involved.
Tonight on Game of Thrones, viewers saw an innocent fan favorite perish at the hands of the merciless queen: Missandei, one of Daenerys Targaryen's most trusted advisors and the love of Grey Worm's life. (We can only imagine how he's feeling right now.)
After staying on the sidelines during "The Long Night," Dany's confidant took center stage in the second half of tonight's episode, first going missing after Euron Greyjoy's army attacks the Targaryen fleet, only to end up being kept prisoner by him and Cersei Lannister at King's Landing. Then, she gets beheaded by The Mountain at Cersei's command (in front of Grey Worm and Dany!) after negotiation attempts go sour.
Fans were already reluctantly anticipating Missandei's demise after she shared a too-good-to-be-true moment with Grey Worm in Season 8, Episode 2. The Unsullied warrior promised her that once the war is over, they'd sail away to Naath, the island where Missandei was born. In a sick ironic twist we saw coming but never wanted to happen, the happy couple will now never be able to make that dream come true.
GoT fans did not take this death lightly. Reactions poured in on Twitter after the shocking twist.
