Okay people, make yourselves comfortable, because we have a LOT to discuss about episode 3 of Making the Cut. Last week, you might have noticed how well the designers got along—it was actually super sweet! Well, Tim Gunn and Heidi Klum decided to throw a wrench into those friendly vibes by pairing up the designers for the next challenge. Let's just say that some of these designers don't *love* giving up any control.

The challenge was for the contestants to create a collaborative collection consisting of three looks: two runway (read: high fashion) and one accessible (aka what you'd see in a store). Right off the bat, it was clear that while these designers are happy to work around each other, they're decidedly less happy working with each other—after all, $1 million is on the line!

Designers Johnny Cota and Meghan Smith got paired together, and immediately you could feel their personalities clash. Another stand-out pairing was designer Sabato Russo with Sander Bos—Sabato's aesthetic is streamlined elegance, while Sander's is much more eclectic.

After our pairs roam around Paris for inspiration, they get to work. And while some partners—like designers Joshua Hupper and Troy Arnold—easily found their groove, others had a harder time adjusting to compromise. After Tim came around to speak with Meghan and Johnny, Johnny got upset with how Meghan answered some of Tim's questions, accused her of bamboozling him, and worried she was going to throw him under the bus. So yeah...it was clear Johnny would rather work alone!

Of course, the designers got another fabulous runway setting, this time on the storied Seine river. Ultimately, Johnny and Meghan's partnership paid off. The judges loved their pretty-but-punk clothing—but not as much as they liked Sabato and Sander's super high-fashion looks, which won the challenge.

But as much as the judges loved those collections, they hated Josh and Troy's even more. Josh and Troy really went for it by mixing patterns and fabric—they used leopard print, sequins, florals, velvet, and a chinoiserie print. The judges were not happy about it, and Naomi Campbell commented, "There is no connection in either of these three outfits. You seem to like the non-matching fabrics, but I think it's gone to a recipe of disaster."

Troy defended himself by saying that some women do like the clash of different prints and textures, and then judge Nicole Richie totally shut him down by responding, "But can I tell you something? I love clashing. I love prints, I work with prints all the time. House of Harlow is a print-heavy brand. I want to say something positive, but these prints make zero sense." Uh, yikes!

This conversation prompted Joshua to shock everyone by walking out of the competition (!), and we were left with a cliff-hanger, wondering if Troy will be eliminated. Until next week, friends!
