You Won't Believe How Good This Country Version of Cher's 'Believe' Is

Georgia native and Nashville resident Taylor Alexander impressed and mystified judges on the The Voice earlier this week with his country cover of Cher's 1998 hit "Believe." The singer-songwriter's deep twang transformed the song into something refreshingly original. So much so, in fact, that it took judges several minutes to figure out where they'd heard the tune before. Adam Levine was first, turning to ask Alicia Keys, "That's Cher?" to which she responded with a look of disbelief.

Alexander, 25, is now an official member of Team Adam, and the song is available for purchase as a single on iTunes. (Dreams do come true!) Rolling Stone raved about the performance, Levine called it the "craziest thing" he's ever heard, and Wide Open Country compared Alexander to a modern-day Hank Williams. Even the Goddess of Pop herself approves, as evidenced by this tweet:
