Woman's 'small request' to family for Christmas sparks backlash online: 'To think you actually sent this text out to other humans'

A mother is facing backlash online for sharing her high expectations of her family for Christmas this year.

The woman took to a Facebook group to post a screenshot of a text she had sent to her family, which she claimed was just a “small request” for the holidays.

“Hey guys, pls try have your wrapping match the theme this year: silver, gold, white and some pinks,” she said in the text.

One family member wrote back saying “okies” with a laughing face emoji and an eye roll.

The woman further explained in the Facebook caption, saying: “I’m going to be brave and admit that I’ve not had many ‘young children’ over in case they touch the tree or rearrange the correct placement of the presents,” she wrote alongside the text.

“I’ve also got a 15 month old who hasn’t really touched any of it!”

Within minutes, people called the woman out for her request, with one commenter asking: “Has the meaning of Christmas been lost?

“To think you actually sent this text out to other humans has my face stuck in an ugly downward position. I mean, I can relate to picky matchy matchy… BUT THIS!.. No,” the person continued.

Another person said that if they got that message from a family member, they would “go straight to the shops to find the most hideous gaudy wrapping paper” and wrap every present in a different kind.

Others couldn’t believe the mother wouldn’t let her child touch the gifts, claiming they “find the cutest most colorful wrapping possible” because their kids “love coming out and seeing what crazy paper is on the presents each year.”

“How boring to have them all the same,” the commenter said.

“Lol I know the response I’d get from my family if I sent that text. MY family already think I’m Christmas insane… they’d gift a straitjacket if I sent this text out,” another person said.
