Woman Shows the Heartbreaking Reality of Taking Out a Senior Shelter Dog for the Day
It's just so bittersweet.
A shelter dog's life is far from comfortable, even if they're showered with love from their caretakers. It can be especially rough for older dogs, though, so when dog adoption advocate Laura had the chance to spend the day with a shelter dog--she chose one of the oldest.
Laura, who goes by @the_littlepaws on TikTok, took the sweet German Shepherd to the beach for some fun playtime in the water. Even though the two had a wonderful day together, it's impossible to ignore the bittersweet realities of these shelter dog field trips.

This dog seems like the best boy! He walked so well on a leash with Laura and seemed to do well in the car, too. We sure hope this video convinces someone to go adopt him!
"How? How is this handsome boy at a shelter?" asked commenter @phoenix_n_rex. That's what we were asking ourselves, too! He seems like an absolute sweetheart, and it breaks our hearts to think that anyone could abandon him. Unfortunately, though, they may not have had a choice.
Laura replied, "he comes from Ukraine." Poor guy! He was displaced by the war and found himself all the way in Marbella, Spain, where this video was filmed. In a reply to a comment, Laura mentioned that he's at a shelter called Triple-A--though hopefully not for long.
"Thank you for giving this baby a little break. Hopefully, because of this exposure, he will find a loving home," wrote @ruby_snuffaluffogus. With a little TikTok magic, that's precisely what could happen! We'll keep all our fingers crossed for this precious Shepherd boy... and for his forever family, too!
