A Woman Says She Unmatched Ben Affleck on Raya—So He Sent Her This Video

It's a modern fantasy we've all indulged in: matching with a celebrity on a dating app. But in Raya user Nivine Jay's case, it allegedly actually happened. With Ben Affleck.

Here's the tea: On Monday, May 3, Jay posted a video to TikTok with the caption “Thinking of the time I matched with Ben Affleck on Raya and thought it was fake, so I unmatched him and he sent me a video on Instagram.” 

She then included the video Affleck allegedly sent her. And indeed, it's a man who looks exactly like Ben Affleck saying, “Nivine, why did you unmatch me? It's me.” You can watch it for yourself here. 

Let's clarify a few things here: (1) I cannot verify that this story is true. (2) I cannot verify that the man in Jay's TikTok video is Ben Affleck—even though, yeah, it looks and sounds like him. (FWIW, in 2020, Affleck said he's not on any dating apps.) Until Affleck confirms, take this as your daily dose of fun, silly, and harmless celebrity gossip. Maybe true, maybe not. Regardless, I've watched the video 50 times and sent it to everyone I know. 

Affleck has been in the news quite a bit recently. On April 30, Page Six reported he's been spending time with Jennifer Lopez amid her split from Alex Rodriguez. The outlet doesn't have photos of the two exes together but rather shots of Affleck entering and leaving a white SUV believed to be owned by Lopez. For now, sources say the reported hangs are platonic. “They are friends…. They’ve never not been," an insider told Page Six. This comes shortly after Affleck gushed about Lopez to InStyle: “She remains, to this day, the hardest-working person I've come across in this business. She has great talent, but she has also worked very hard for her success, and I'm so happy for her that she seems, at long last, to be getting the credit she deserves.”

Maybe Lopez has been giving Affleck advice on what to do about Jay? I kid, I kid. We'll keep you posted on this dating app saga.
