'It’s a sad world we live in y’all': Video of racist woman harassing kids goes viral
An Oregon woman has been charged with disorderly conduct, harassment and trespassing after being filmed going on a racist tirade on Easter Sunday.
As local affiliate KEZI reports, Jessica Hollinger and her husband Kevin — who was also arrested — were filmed shouting racist slurs as they walked through a Springfield, Ore. neighborhood last Sunday.
Their taunts caught the attention of the Matthews family, who were sitting down to Easter dinner when they overheard the Hollingers. When the family went outside to investigate, the couple began harassing them for being black.
“She approached me in my face and started saying [the slur] multiple times,” Rashonda Matthews told the news station.
On Facebook, Matthews wrote, “It's a sad world we live in yall.. on Easter with our kids out playing we were called the N word, just for being black and outside I guess. Before the video started she had pushed my brother, and her man pulled a knife and threated my brother.”
Matthews said her brothers asked the Hollingers to leave, citing the presence of children. Instead, Jessica Hollinger stepped onto her property and “chest-bumped” one of the family members.
Rahtavian Matthews began filming the incident, and caught Hollinger continuing to shout abuse and even pulling down her black leggings, exposing her bottom.
"We were kinda like, 'What the heck?' trying to tell them to stop, and as soon as I pulled out my phone 'cause it was pretty funny and kinda crazy, she said she was going to call the cops on me," he said.
According to police, Kevin Hollinger was caught carrying a knife under his shirt — though reportedly didn’t pull it out during the confrontation — and has since been charged with disorderly conduct and felon in possession of a restricted weapon for carrying a knife.
