This Woman's Ex Still Sends Birthday Gifts to Their Dog Every Year

Breakups can end badly, but two high school sweethearts from Texas are still on good terms despite their separation - and it's all thanks to one dog. Rebecca Hernandez and Frankie married right after she graduated from college, and like many blossoming couples, they decided to adopt a puppy (always a good idea). One-month-old Apollo kept the couple on their toes, and quickly became an integral part of their family.

But according to BuzzFeed, the couple's marriage became rocky, and eventually ended in separation. Rebecca ending up getting puppy-custody of Apollo, but Frankie still stops by when he's in town to visit the adorable dog. In fact, he even sends Apollo birthday gifts … even now, two years after the breakup. Recently, Rebecca took to Twitter to share Frankie's latest present to Apollo, and people are absolutely endeared.

"My ex and I split up two years ago and he still sends out dog Apollo, a birthday card and gift gift card to Petco on his birthday," she wrote on Twitter. Her post has since received over 40,000 likes and 15,000 retweets. People are definitely feeling emotional. Romantics everywhere are going absolutely crazy, and many are even vying for Rebecca and Frankie to reunite.

Even Petco is amazed at Frankie's loyalty to Apollo.

While the couple is separated, they haven't actually filed for divorce yet - maybe there's a chance of reconciliation after all? We certainly hope so, and according to Rebecca, so does her family.

"We are both so overwhelmed by it all. Everyone has hopes for us both. They say they're crying but I think we are the ones really feeling emotional about it all," she told Buzzfeed. "Our families believe that this is what is going to bring us back together again."

Our fingers are definitely crossed - it certainly seems like puppy love is in the air!
