On Tuesday's episode of America's Got Talent, the trapeze artist couple Mary and Tyce suffered a major setback while they were on stage. During the peak of their routine, which Tyce performed blindfolded, he accidentally dropped Mary and sent her plunging to the ground.
You can watch it all go down in this clip.
Thankfully, the couple had a mat on the stage so if either of them fell they'd be okay. Mary got up from the accident with some bruises, but was otherwise unharmed. They were mostly concerned with how it would impact their overall performance. They even offered to try the routine again. Commitment!
"This is not America's Got Perfection, it's America's Got Talent," guest judge Ken Jeong said. "Nobody can do this. I mean, it's OK!"
The routine is impressive even with the fall, especially considering Tyce is nearly blinddue to a progressive eye disease. Judge Simon Cowell said as much in his comments on the performance.
"I don't think there's ever been a singer on any of our competitions who's been note-perfect," judge Simon Cowell said. "It doesn't make them not amazing, it makes them human. Although the consequences of this are slightly worse than falling off-key, whereas you nearly broke your neck, and the fact that you're nearly blind makes this incredible."
Mary and Tyce, otherwise known as Duo Transcend, were able to advance to the next round despite their fall. You can watch the AGT on Tuesdays at 8 p.m on NBC.
