Willie Garson's Son Shares a Heartbreaking Instagram Post Following the 'SATC' Star's Death

Actor Willie Garson has died at age 57 after battling pancreatic cancer. Garson, who was known for his role as Carrie Bradshaw's friend Stanford Blatch in HBO's Sex and the City franchise, was surrounded by family at his passing, according to People.

Although few details about the actor's battle with pancreatic cancer have been released, People confirmed that it was a "short illness." Unfortunately, a rapid decline is not uncommon with the type of cancer. Pancreatic cancer occurs when malignant cells begin to form in the pancreas, which is located behind the lower stomach. Though this cancer is rare, it is generally aggressive and has taken the life of other notable celebrities in recent years like Alex Trebek, Aretha Franklin, and more.

Garson's family and Sex and the City costars are mourning the loss of the actor, including his adopted son Nathan. In an Instagram post on Tuesday, Nathan shared a number of photos of his dad, followed by a heartbreaking caption.

"I love you so much papa. Rest In Peace and I’m so glad you got to share all your adventures with me and were able to accomplish so much," Nathan wrote. "I’m so proud of you. I will always love you, but I think it’s time for you to go on an adventure of your own."

"You’ll always be with me. Love you more than you will ever know and I’m glad you can be at peace now," he continued. "You always were the toughest and funniest and smartest person I’ve known. I’m glad you shared your love with me. I’ll never forget it or lose it ❤️😘"

Garson, who is set to appear in the upcoming Sex and the City reboot, And Just Like That, was very much beloved by his fellow actors, too. His Sex and the City costar and on-screen husband Mario Cantone also shared a tribute to Twitter, writing: "I couldn’t have had a more brilliant TV partner. I’m devastated and just overwhelmed with sadness. Taken away from all of us way soon. You were a gift from the gods. Rest my sweet friend. I love you."

In a statement shared with Deadline, Sex and the City executive producer Michael Patrick King also reflected on Garson’s gifts.

"His spirit and his dedication to his craft was present every day filming And Just Like That. He was there—giving us his all—even while he was sick," King said. "His multitude of gifts as an actor and person will be missed by everyone. In this sad, dark moment we are comforted by our memory of his joy and light."

HBO also added, "Willie Garson was in life, as on-screen, a devoted friend and a bright light for everyone in his universe. He created one of the most beloved characters from the HBO pantheon and was a member of our family for nearly twenty-five years. We are deeply saddened to learn of his passing and extend our sincere condolences to his family and loved ones."
