There is so much good news in
late night television right now. Mere days after the premiere of Freeform’s exciting new , we have a much-needed announcement from legacy late night series, Truth & Iliza The Late Show. The Stephen Colbert-led favorite is planning an old school Daily Show reunion in celebration of its host's 20-year career in comedy.
I will wait for you to stop yelling with joy to continue.
The upcoming episode is happening on Tuesday, May 9, and will be a “special evening of comedy and conversation.” Although the
Late Show usually has multiple different segments over one episode, this hour will be completely dedicated to getting the Daily Show OGs back together. As politics feels more and more like a prologue to , there’s no better time to get the gang back together. The Handmaid’s Tale
Scroll through the gallery to find out who’s confirmed for the reunion, who I’m hoping will join the special, and why we need each and every one of them. Welcome to your Moment of Zen.
Jon Stewart (Confirmed)
The moment Donald Trump was elected to be our next president, every website and their mom blamed our shocking new world order
on the lack of Jon Stewart on TV. While we’re not sure those musings are fair to Stewart or his replacement Trevor Noah, it is true we need an immediate dose of his old school Daily Show monologues more than ever as our president hires a man accused of sexual assault and plots even more discriminatory executive orders.
I would like a traditional nuanced Jon Stewart Take ASAP.

Samantha Bee (Confirmed)
slays late night every Wednesday on TBS with her own show, Not The White House Correspondents Dinner founder Full Frontal With Sam Bee. But, Sam’s powerful feminist views deserve to have far more eyeballs on them — and The Late Show gets more than double the eyeballs of Bee’s cable series.
Plus, we’ll take more spending more time with this Nasty Woman however we can.

John Oliver (Confirmed)
John has the same problem as his former co-worker Bee. He’s producing amazing work on the regular with his own (premium) cable show, but far fewer people see it than they see
The Late Show. John, please explain to the portion of America without access to HBO why Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner may not be our great moderate hope. Photo: Courtesy of CBS. More
Ed Helms (Confirmed)
Ed has managed to criticize President Trump’s more alarming views by
only using Tom Petty lyrics. That impressive feat more than scores him an invite to any reunion. Photo: Ray Mickshaw/NBC. More
Rob Corddry (Confirmed)
Colbert’s “Evening Of Comedy And Conversation” can’t be all doom and gloom, so
Anchorman alum Corddry can bring the less politically-pointed funny. Still, the Ballers actor can be civically minded, as he tweets about Trump’s antics all the time. Photo: Courtesy of CBS. More
Steve Carell (Fingers Crossed)
While Carell isn't a confirmed guest yet, this will not be a true throwback
Daily Show reunion without an get together. Also, I just love Steve Carell and feel like I haven’t seen him in a while. Come back to me, Steve. Even Stevphen Photo: Courtesy of CBS. More
