Why Kendall Jenner Sparked Twitter Drama After Wearing the Same Dress as Selena Gomez

Kendall Jenner celebrated Easter wearing the same pink floral dress Selena Gomez wore in her “De Una Vez” music video. This wardrobe choice did not go unnoticed by fans, who were quick to make the connection. But Jenner herself sparked a little drama when she shared and commented on a shady tweet about the look. Jenner has since taken down her post, but celebrity news account PopFaction captured a screenshot of it.

The tweet, from a Kendall fan account, said, “kendall jenner pulling off this dress better than anyone else,” alluding to the Gomez comparisons. Jenner reposted it on her own account and added, “had to take it home from set.”

Jenner ultimately deleted the tweet after it got some backlash from Gomez fans. But Selena Gomez’s official fan club noticed the drama and had a sassy response. The fan club reposted Jenner’s tweet with photos of herself on the dress and wrote, “stream #Revelación,” as if it was an image of Gomez herself. Revelación is Gomez’s critically acclaimed Spanish EP.

What is Gomez and Jenner’s relationship? The two were friends in the past, as both were members of Taylor Swift’s squad. In one 2016 interview, Gomez even revealed that Jenner had a boyfriend. (Jenner had been involved with Harry Styles at the time. “None of [the girls in my squad] are single,” she told Capital FM at the time. “Taylor’s not single, Gigi’s not single, neither is Kendall. I’m the only single one!”

A source “close to the Kardashians” went to E! to clarify that actually, Gomez was technically wrong. “Kendall is single,” the source said. “She is not dating Harry anymore, but they are still friends and if they are in the same city they likely would [hang out]. Nothing bad happened between them, just busy schedules.” That was just months before Jenner’s sister Kim Kardashian would do her Snapchat takedown of Swift. Swift and Gomez were and remain longtime close friends.

Things have seemingly become frostier since between Gomez and Jenner, though, with the two no longer even following each other on Instagram.
