Why Katie Holmes Is Not Prioritizing Dating After Break Up With Emilio Vitolo Jr.

Actress Katie Holmes is leaning into being single right now after having a brief but passionate romance with New York City-based restauranteur Emilio Vitolo Jr. They began dating in September of 2020, but in May of this year they decided to part ways.
“Their relationship fizzled,” an insider told Us Weekly. “They figured out they're better off as friends... Katie and Emilio really enjoyed their time together—it just simply didn't work out. She's focusing on being a mom and her upcoming projects.”
They added that their schedules just didn't “mesh.”
Previously, Holmes was linked with actor Jamie Foxx, who she had a discreet relationship with from about 2013 until 2019. And, of course, Holmes co-parents her fifteen-year-old daughter Suri Cruise with ex Tom Cruise. Parenting is now her main focus, according to two sources speaking with E! News.
“Dating is not a huge priority for her,” one insider said. “She has a full plate with work and Suri.”
Holmes is not close off to the idea, however.
“If it happens, it happens,” said the source. “If not, that's OK, too.”
They added that The Dawson's Creek star had “enjoyed being with someone and would like to find that again,” but that a relationship is ”not something she's spending a ton of time working on.”
Another insider said that there's no hard feelings between Holmes and Vitolo and they're maintaining a friendship after realizing that's the best direction for their relationship. Holmes has also been working more and filming a new project.
“Katie is happy living her life privately, working and taking care of her daughter,” said the insider. “She's starting a movie soon called Rare Objects...She's very involved with her daughter.”
In April, Holmes shared photos of Suri to celebrate the teen's birthday, though she is notoriously private about her daughter.
“Happy 15th Birthday Sweetheart! I love you!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe you are already 15!” she captioned the sweet black and white images of a younger Cruise.
