Jennifer Aniston made it no secret that she won't be at this year's Emmys ceremony—and it's entirely due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Aniston is nominated with the Friends team for Best Variety Special (pre-recorded) for the Friends reunion.

Aniston told Jimmy Kimmel this week that “no, I will not be going [to the Emmys]. I think Ben Winston, our producer and director, [who's] incredible, who put the whole thing together [will go].” She added that being on Kimmel's show alone after quarantining for the last year and a half, “this is a big step for me to just be here. I'm just [taking] baby steps.”

Aniston has been vocal about how much she is doing to protect herself after getting her COVID-19 vaccine.

Aniston spoke to InStyle earlier this year about how she has cut some friends out of her circle because they're unvaccinated or their vaccination status isn't clear.

“There's still a large group of people who are anti-vaxxers or just don't listen to the facts,” Aniston said. “It's a real shame. I've just lost a few people in my weekly routine who have refused or did not disclose [whether or not they had been vaccinated], and it was unfortunate. I feel it's your moral and professional obligation to inform, since we're not all podded up and being tested every single day. It's tricky because everyone is entitled to their own opinion—but a lot of opinions don't feel based in anything except fear or propaganda.”
