Why Isn't Zendaya at the Met Gala?

Zendaya is skipping fashion's biggest night this year.

The young star and notable Met Gala attendee missed this year's festivities, leaving us without a new fashion moment from herself and her longtime stylist, Law Roach. Though her absence is felt, the actor has a very good reason: she is back to filming the much-anticipated second season of Euphoria.

Z gave her fans the heads up about her absence during an Extra interview Wednesday, where she appeared alongside her friend and Dune co-star Timothée Chalamet. She broke the news after being asked what's next for her after the Dune press events.

"I will be on Euphoria. My fans are very upset with me. I will unfortunately not be able to attend [the Met Gala] because I'll be working for Euphoria. I wish I could, especially since this fashion icon is going to be hosting," she said, pointing towards Chalamet, who is one of this year's co-hosts.

The star's return to the Euphoria set comes after she took a break to attend the Venice Film Festival, where she wore several stunning red carpet outfits, including a maroon Maison Alaïa two-piece gown, and a custom leather Balmain gown with a 93-carat Bvlgari emerald necklace.

Zendaya and Chalamet also took a trip down Met Gala memory lane during the interview, considering their favorite looks from previous years. When her light-up Cinderella gown from 2019 was mentioned, she joked, "That one almost took me out. Let me tell you."
