Why Is Chris Noth (aka Mr. Big) in the Lilly Pulitzer for Target Ad?

Hold onto your golf clubs and floppy hats because Lilly Pulitzer for Target, the highly-anticipated collaboration, is almost here. On April 19, the megastore will release a 250 piece collection with all items under $150 and includes plus sizes, making it one of the biggest (and definitely brightest) lines to make its Target debut. To capture the essence of Palm Beach in a (suntan lotion) bottle, the ad campaign is pure fun in the sun. Prints galore plaster really happy people all partying in a mansion poolside, in the parlor, and more with a monkey butler serving cocktails with umbrellas, and a giraffe. It’s a party — with the weirdest guest list.

Alek Wek, Denise Bidot, Bella Thorne, a bunch of kids, some senior citizens, and tons of models were there. But perhaps the pair that might have gotten an invitation in the mail by accident but showed up anyways was Chris Noth, aka Mr. Big from Sex and the City, and Nick Young, Iggy Azalea’s point guard boyfriend.

Noth, wearing a gray suit, and Young, in a teal blazer, purple pocket square, and polka dot pants, seem to be the injection of masculinity into the frill and extremely feminine setting. Standing by the bar together, unlikely friends, discussing pickup lines — “I think the most useful icebreaking questions goes in three parts: What are you drinking? How much? I think you need another,” Noth said in a behind-the-scenes video — they’re uncomfortably out of place (and know it).

So why exactly are these men lending their famous selves to Lilly Pulitzer? Probably for the money, but they could also just be really big fans of dry martinis and there’s no better accoutrement to the drink than some corresponding clothing.
