The world watched Prince Philip’s televised funeral service on Saturday, April 17. Members of the royal family were in attendance, including Prince William and Prince Harry. The estranged siblings haven’t seen each other in person since Harry and Meghan Markle’s tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey, and viewers were worried Harry and William’s feud reignited because of one observation: They didn’t stand next to each other during the Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral.

William and Harry stood between Princess Anne and Mark Phillip’s son, Peter Phillips, instead of next to each other—but for an entirely different reason than personal drama.

“These are practical changes rather than sending a signal. This is a funeral, and we are not going to be drawn into perceptions of drama,” Buckingham Palace told Us Weekly in a statement. “The arrangements have been agreed and represent Her Majesty’s wishes as well as the personal wishes of the duke.”

The private ceremony had a maximum of 30 guests, not including Meghan Markle or Will and Kate’s kids, George, Charlotte, and Louis. In addition to the late duke’s wife, Queen Elizabeth II, other royal guests in attendance included Prince Charles, his wife, Camila Parker-Bowles, Prince William, Prince Harry, Kate Middleton, Prince Andrew, Princess Anne, Prince Edward, Princess Beatrice, and Princess Eugenie.

Buckingham Palace announced the death of Prince Philip on April 9. The palace released the following statement:

“It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty the Queen has announced the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness the Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle. The Royal Family join with people around the world in mourning his loss. Further announcements will be made in due course.”

He was 99 years old and passed away two months before his 100th birthday.
