Why Gigi Hadid Is Mad at an Australian Magazine

Gigi Hadid is one of the hottest supermodels in the world right now, with every publication desperately scrambling to book her as their cover star. That means the 20-year-old can be very picky about which ones she accepts — so when Australian magazine Girlfriend selected a stock photo of the 20-year-old for the cover of their May issue, Hadid was not impressed.

“We’re honoured to have the one and only @gigihadid on the cover of our May issue ON SALE TODAY!!!,” Girlfriend wrote on their Instagram account alongside the cover.

However, Hadid clearly didn’t feel the same way and took to her Twitter account to claim the magazine had taken the stock image, which she asserts was shot two years ago, and used it without her permission.

“GirlfriendMAG "honoured” to take a stock photo from two years ago & use it without my permission…? Lol", Gigi wrote.

Within hours the tweet was gone from the young model’s page, yet that didn’t stop people from retweeting the awkward encounter for the whole Internet to see. Screenshots are forever.
