After season one I think it is fair to say we all fell in love with The Baby-Sitters Club. The group is back for more adventures in season two, and you might be wondering why the cast looks a little different this time around. Dawn Schafer, who was played by Xochitl Gomez in Season 1, has been recast and will now be portrayed by a new actor: Kyndra Sanchez.

After an Emmy award wining first season some may wonder why anyone would want to leave such a successful show. But for Gomez a role in Marvel's Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness was just too good to pass on. The film is set to be released in 2022 in which Gomez will be featured as America Chavez, otherwise known as Miss America, a lesbian Latinx superhero. Gomez shared her excitement for the new role on instagram posting a photo of the comics character captioned, "Can’t wait for y’all to meet her!"

Tight filming schedules and the COVID pandemic meant that Gomez had to take a step back from the The Baby-Sitters Club. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight she said, "I felt really sad, but I knew that, just because of COVID, I couldn't be at one place and then another and then have to just switch all the time."

As sad as it is to see Gomez leave her cast-mates are just as excited for her to join the MCU. In a video released by Netflix her fellow co-stars got together to wish her farewell saying, "Gomez will forever be a member of The Baby-Sitters Club". The video ends with the remaining four members of the club: Sophie Grace, Momona Tamada, Shay Rudolph, and Malia Baker welcoming Kyndra Sanchez to the club which as you can see left her speechless.

In an interview with Seventeen earlier this year, Sanchez shared her excitement to play Dawn, a character she has a lot in common with. "[We both] have this fire inside of us that wants to spread our voices and make a difference,” Sanchez explained. “For the last give years, I have been spreading kindness, love, and compassion by hosting lemonade stands for the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundations, as well as visiting senior centers every Christmas to sing carols and play the guitar.”

Check out season two now available to stream on Netflix to see what kind of shenanigans Dawn and the rest of the baby-sitters get up this season on The Baby-Sitters Club.
