But this week, smart money is all over one of Saturday’s highest-profile games: The Red River Showdown between Oklahoma and Texas.
At the time of writing, 58 percent of spread bets are on Texas, which isn’t all that telling. However, it’s how this line has moved and what’s driving the adjustment that bettors should take note of.

The Sooners opened as 9.5-point favorites but are getting just 42 percent of all wagers on the spread.
But those bets on Oklahoma make up 52 percent of the money, indicating that the bigger bets are laying the points. But still, 52 percent is very close to balanced money, so why have oddsmakers moved this line up to -10.5?
Because that slight majority in money is also coming from respected bettors.
Sports Insights’ Bet Signals have reported two steam moves on Oklahoma at lines of -9.5 and -10, making it easy to understand why the number now sits at -10.5.
In fact, a couple of books across the market have already adjusted to Oklahoma -11.
It’ll now be interesting to monitor if Texas money is waiting to buy back the Longhorns, especially if this line ticks up to a consensus +11 or +11.5 across the market.
