Where Y’at this Weekend? The Fillmore, Drag Brunch, The Country Club

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Watch every Thursday morning as WhereYat.com and Where Y’at Magazine bring the top picks of great things to do in the beautiful city of New Orleans.

It’s Memorial Day weekend, a time for honoring the military personnel who perished while serving in the United States Armed Forces. This holiday weekend also features live music, refreshing swimming pools, and cold beer…here are Where Y’at’s picks!

  • Saturday, May 25, Madison Beer, the young pop star known for hit songs like “Reckless,” will be bringing her “Spinnin” Tour to the Fillmore. Discovered by Justin Bieber at age 13, the star’s upbeat performance of her new album Silence Between Songs will wow the crowd.

  • Next, head for a dip in the swimming pool at The Country Club. Located in the Bywater, enjoy the famed drag brunch, then go for a swim at their courtyard pool afterwards. Open to those 21+, the Country Club is also known for their fantastic cocktails.

  • On Saturday, May 25, Port Orleans Brewing Company will host its seventh anniversary party. This free celebration from noon to 6 will mark the release of three new beers while complimented with live music from The Quickening, plenty of video games, and a crawfish boil.

  • Finally, on Saturday, the Krewe of Black & Gold will host their Spirit of Louisiana Jazz Funeral and Second Line at City Park Festival Grounds. The free event will mourn the impact of the pandemic and recent hurricanes, and feature culture bearers such as Big Chief Bo Dollis, Jr., the TBC Brass Band, and others.
