Some Westminster Dog Show Competitors Are Using Kenra Fast-Dry Hairspray for Flake-Free Fur

According to an interview with a competitor from the 2018 Westminster Dog Show, dog owners are using Kenra Professional Fast-Dry Hairspray on their pups to keep their hair looking great.

Have you ever watched a dog show and found yourself envying the long, silky strands of an Afghan Hound or the voluminous curls of a Bichon Frise? Just me? Cool. Well, when you're done being in denial, you may be delighted to learn that there's a styling product made for humans that many handlers use on their beautiful show dogs.

According to People, multiple cans of Kenra Professional Fast-Dry Hairspray could be found at the 2018 Westminster Dog Show's backstage grooming stations, and it wasn't there for the handlers' hair. Apparently, the flexible-hold formula is a must-have for the competing pooches, acting as a finishing touch before they hit the ring.

Handler and owner Amy Booth told People that she spritzes Kenra Professional on Riese, her gorgeous Golden Retriever that won Best in Breed, because "it holds fur in place without leaving any white, flaky residue behind for the judges to see." Above, you can see 2018's Best in Show winner, a Bichon Frise named Flynn whose fur is absolutely enviable. (No word on whether Flynn uses this or another hair spray, if any product at all.) Kenra Professional may want to seriously consider adding these qualities to their product description, which currently promises rapid drying for heat styling sans frying, rice starch for oil absorption, and buildable, long-lasting hold — no mention of flake-free fur.

In fact, Ulta shoppers agree that Kenra Professional Fast-Dry Hairspray doesn't flake, even (and more importantly) on human hair. "Love the smell and how light it is. It finished my style without feeling dry or crunchy. Also didn't flake when restyling second-day hair," reads one enthusiastic product review reads. Many reviewers also praise how wonderful it smells, which surely doesn't go unnoticed by the dogs' highly attuned sense of smell.

If you, too, would like light and delicately scented hold, you'll be happy to hear that Kenra Professional's beloved product is available at ulta.com for just $17. And by all means, share it with your dog.
